THE HYBRID WORKLIFE
Publisher: ARKFO – The Danish Architectural press 2024
The aim of this book is to shift the focus to the relationship between PEOPLE and SPACE, prioritizing people-centric flexible, hybrid work and exploring the physical locations where it can occur—whether at the office, at home, or in local hubs (sometimes referred to as the "Club & Hub"). The book investigates what each of these places best facilitates, understanding the factors contributing to a happy and balanced work life, and, most importantly, what enhances productivity. The role of space in these considerations is crucial. From this exploration, the book identifies areas for improvement and questions the future purpose of offices and the work processes they could support. The book poses the question of whether, in this rethinking of work, the office could become the epicenter for work communities, especially for knowledge workers or white-collar employees. It envisions the office as a place for unplugged collaboration, development, production, improvement, innovation, and dynamic communication within collaborative communities—a potential club of the future.

Organisations in a time of transition (Danish: Organisationer i en overgangstid)
Publisher: DPF – Danish Psychological publisher; 2021
Through concrete methods, approaches, best practices and experiences, “Organisations in a time of transition” investigates the emerging leadership structures and management perspectives of modern organisations. In the book, I share insights and perspectives on the hybrid work formats of future workplaces, the toolbox for post COVID ways of working, the rise of a responsible human leadership approach - and how this connects to better, healthier, more sustainable and productive future workplaces. I also addresses the changing perception of service experiences as a traditional “one size fits all” solution towards great, customised, on demand service experiences that moves the workplace above and beyond – and deep dives into four emerging workplace trends, that will shape the future of work.

Publisher: DFM – Danish Facility Management Network 2019
“Facility Management as a Digital Change Agent” is DFM network and the digitisation committee’s whitebook on the transformation of facility management, in a digital age. In the book, Gitte Andersen investigates the shift from facility management to experience management, and provides insights into what data can reveal about changing employee demands to workplaces, and how these will come to shape future FM organisations - focusing especially on creating great, on demand, individualised service experiences and community building. The chapter also provides insights into the importance of measuring the outcome of a new workplace design, and what role FM plays to this extend.
SMART M2 (Danish: Kloge m2)
Publisher: PRAXIS 2017
(supported by the Real Dania fund & Danish Society for Education and Business)
In “SMART M2”, Gitte Andersen and Christine Antorini, former Danish Minister of Children and Education, provide a valuable agenda of possibilities for space, behaviour, learning, and welfare, by introducing simple methods to identify and transform the many unused space resources, only waiting to be activated. Using simple mapping methods on the use of space in institutions, the book provides concrete tools for creating ‘more for less’ in all institutions from 0-18 years of age. This by focusing on communities, co-creation, flexible rooms both in- and outdoors – and all within existing construction. “SMART M2” offers an effective framework for institution managements and employees, boards, politicians, and administrations to actively work with ‘the room as the third pedagogue’.
Space at Work (Danish: Rum I arbejde)
Publisher: Academic Publisher 2015 (Akademisk Forlag)
In “Space at Work”, Gitte Andersen and Peter Holdt Christensen, Associate Professor at CBS, draw our attention to the importance and possibilities of space design, by putting space on the organisation’s agenda. The book focuses on space design at workplaces, and investigates the best and most viable ways of putting spaces to work. “Space at Work” is an important contribution to the discussion of space and behaviour, and a relevant framework to understand how to enable spaces, to support the people who work in them - thereby improving the work they carry out in these spaces.
